About Painters Hamilton
Alex Keller is the owner and project lead at Painters Hamilton. Originally from Europe, Alex brings more than 20 years of hands-on experience influenced by the detailed finishing standards found in European interiors. His work extends beyond conventional wall painting to complex European-style finishes, decorative details and custom accent walls that require careful planning and precise execution.
Alex specializes in feature walls involving geometric layouts, multiple colours, textured effects and clean transitions around ceilings, trim and architectural details. These projects require more than applying a contrasting colour. The wall must be properly repaired and levelled, the design must be measured from the room’s natural focal point, and every line, edge and finish must remain consistent across the entire surface.
For detailed accent-wall projects, Alex assesses the existing coating and wall condition, plans the layout, tests colour and finish combinations, and determines the appropriate preparation and application method. He remains directly involved from the initial concept through the final inspection, helping ensure that the finished wall complements the room instead of appearing disconnected from it.
Whether restoring a worn interior, refinishing kitchen cabinets or creating a technically demanding feature wall, Alex applies the same principle: the quality of the finish depends on the preparation, precision and decisions made before the final coat is applied.
From European Craftsmanship to Hamilton Homes
Painters Hamilton began in 2013 when Alex Keller brought his European painting background and finishing experience to homeowners in Hamilton. Before the company had crews or a growing portfolio, it was built around Alex’s belief that a painted surface should still look carefully finished when viewed up close—not only from the doorway.
Alex’s European experience included detailed interior finishing and complex accent walls where straight lines, balanced layouts and consistent textures matter as much as the chosen colour. That background shaped the way Keller Painting approaches everyday painting projects today. A standard room repaint still receives the same attention to edges, surface defects and finish consistency that a detailed feature wall requires.
This approach is particularly valuable in Hamilton, where no two properties are quite the same. An older home may have plaster repairs, several generations of paint, damaged trim or walls that are no longer perfectly level. A newer home may have builder-grade coatings, visible drywall joints or settlement cracks. Instead of treating every surface the same, we identify what is underneath the existing paint and determine what must be repaired, sanded, sealed or primed before the finish coats are applied.
As the company grew, Alex remained directly involved. He assesses projects, helps plan detailed finishes and checks the work before completion. Customers are not passed between a salesperson, an outside subcontractor and an anonymous office. They know who is responsible for the project and who they can contact when a question arises.
Our product choices follow the same practical philosophy. Benjamin Moore, Sherwin-Williams and Dulux all make excellent products, but no single paint is right for every surface. A busy hallway, humid bathroom, stained ceiling, previously painted cabinet and weather-exposed exterior each require a different combination of preparation, primer, sheen and finish.
Today, Painters Hamilton provides residential and commercial painting throughout Hamilton, Ancaster, Dundas, Stoney Creek, Waterdown and nearby communities. The company has expanded, but the standard behind the work remains the same: understand the surface, prepare it properly and apply every finish with the precision Alex developed through years of European and Canadian painting experience.
